The annual Roselle Run for the Roses 5K and Youth Event (named after sponsor Sternberg Lighting since 2007), grew from the passion and dedication of TSA-Illinois Member Mark Mandel and his desire to put on a fundraising event to benefit those affected by Tourette Syndrome in Illinois.
The race has come a long way from its first year in 1993 which started with 125 participants and 30 volunteers. In 2011 over 1000 runners participated in the 5k event and 80 children in the youth event and we had over 100 volunteers. It is now a Chicago Area Runners Association (CARA) registered race and was voted the CARA race of the year in 2011.
Thanks to the continued efforts of Mark Mandel, Sternberg Lighting, Mark Drugs and the many other race sponsors and volunteers, we now look forward to this amazing event each June and the financial support and public awareness it provides our members.
The 22nd Annual Run for the Roses will be held, Sunday, June 6, 2015. Please contact our office, [email protected], (847) 526-8660, if you would be interested in volunteering at next year's race.
